Yes, that is right! Finally, my half birthday celebration!!! Everyone really got into the spirit, and MinMc went above and beyond to make me really feel like it was my "birfday." Below is the sign she modified. Ha! How funny.
Here is my goodie bucket. It was FULL of treats that were enjoyed all weekend long. THANKS MinMc! You are awesome!
notice the cute Tiara? She personalized it for my special weekend of celebrations.
Here is a picture of the girls we are getting ready to hop in the truck for our first float of the weekend! The boys were annoyed that I wanted a picture, so they didn't get one.
Here is M getting the radio cooler ready to rock! And of course Blue right beside him.
M always makes a special "CONCOCTION" for our Saturday floats. We are seasoned floaters, there are many preparations we do so that we always have the perfect float.
Me and W waiting to get on the bus. We altered some left over koozies from last years celebration. W, you are so funny! Great idea.
W and her husband RD. Cute! They were so fun!
I decided to spare you the 70 something pictures we took and decided to put them in a collage for easier looking. The first collage are some of my very favorite pictures from the day. There are group photos, ghetto floater photos, and "concoction" photos. Have I mentioned that I love to float the river?
The collage below helps track the day. Lots of group action shots. There is a reminder photo when we popped a tube accidentally on purpose (near a bridge thank goodness) and had to wait for the bus to throw us another tube. The infamous cheese balls made a cameo. Also the Everclear soaked Fredricksburg peaches are in there somewhere, they were sooooo strong!
I made a new friend, which isn't hard to do on the river. They were among the first to ask me if it was my birthday, not my bachelorette party (but how fun would that be?)!!! It was funny trying to explain that it was only my half birthday, but everyone eventually got it and loved the idea. It was his actual birthday so of course he wanted to borrow the tiara... however he was only 23. Whatever! You are only as young as you feel!
He loved it!
On any float that we have ever gone on we always find some "rest stops" along the way to hang out, eat, and watch other floaters. And this float was like any other, except it did get a little crazy. We just happened to pull over at the rowdy river float concert. Just as we were finding the perfect area W noticed she didn't have her sunglasses anymore. She got out of her tube, as most do when stopping, and sat in the water near me. Next thing I know she has found someones prescription eyewear below her. She puts them on and we nearly die laughing. I am still cracking up about it today. She wore those things for a little while, enough time for me to snap some memorable pictures. =)
She looks like a bookworm.
Here is everyone moving around. And W with her new glasses... grinding. OMG!
Say CHEESE!
When we left our spot we continued our float down the river. Like I said, many crazy and unbelieveable things happen as you float down the river, expect the unexpected. As seen below.
For example: Beer Pong on the river. Yes, beer pong. Don't ask me how they did it, but this is a first for me. Never seen that one!
I love the next picture. It is a close up of the modified koozie that W made for us! Thanks MinMc for being a great sport, and W... you crack me up.
Hopefully that wasn't the last float of the season, but if it was... it ended on a good note!
Good times, great friends, and memories to last a lifetime!
Day 2: Sunday float
The diehards always stay around for the much more relaxing Sunday floats. These are a time for remembering and laughing about the Saturday floats. We do a much shorter float on Sunday and usually we float with very few people. This time however we had a small group.
The boys had already had enough with the girls. They chose to float solo for a bit. (its ok, we had the cooler, they only had the radio, so they still needed us... we are smart)
We stopped off for a long time. This was a great "rest stop." We had a perfect view of the River Authority Cops; it was fun to watch them check coolers, and pull groups out of the water for tickets.
I don't know what I would do without MinMc! She is such a great hostess and a great friend. I enjoy the time we get to spend together whether it be the river in the warm months, or in H-town in the cooler months!
As silly as people thought a half birthday celebration was last week, they sure did get into it and have lots of fun. I was sure I was going to have to convince people to get into it, but just 3 hours into the party weekend eveyone was wishing they had celebrated their half birthday as well. We were calculating and trying to plan next years "HALF BIRTHDAY" celebrations. Nearly everyone there had winter birthdays, so possibly next year we can do one big half birthday bash for all us winter babies! Thanks guys for attending and making my day so special.
Now, I am hoping to actually float again this Thursday for my actual half birthday date. Stay tuned to see if this post get updated with one more celebration float. Fingers Crossed!
xoxo
